, bob. we should let our viewers know, they might recognize you, you were on "fox & friends" three times in the past couple of years. >> three times. >> alisyn: when you were talking about work to help vets you didn't share were you in the middle of a crisis. take us back to three years ago, were you in china and your wife called. christy called and said there had been an accident and first didn't think it would be that bad and word came in that it was very serious. and we arranged a series of conference calls with the doctors and at one point, the doctor said to me, i asked her, how, what she thought was going to happen she couldn't tell, she couldn't guarantee he would live another 15 minutes. at that point i asked both of my brothers to find a catholic priest to give bobby the last rites. >> alisyn: bobby, do you remember the accident? >> no, i don't. no recollection at all. >> alisyn: what's the first thing that you remember afterwards? >> first thing i remember afterwards was waking up in the hospital. >> alisyn: and of course, shocked that you knew that your life was forever change

cain and bob dole and others came and pleaded with you to vote for this treaty. >> wolf, the issues -- the rights and privileges, opportunities for the disabled are very important. they're too important to turn over -- >> why were you against this treaty? >> if it's important, why turn it over to united nations? >> senator kerry says they're not turning it over. the united nations is just the body that's going to help other countries do what we are doing here in united states. >> wolf, if that were true, we don't need a legally binding treaty. we can work as an international community to spread our ideas abroad. but america has set the standard for our treatment of the disabled in creating opportunities and removing obstacles -- >> even senator mccain and senator dole, you say they are wrong. >> they are wrong because the united nations cannot take an issue of that importance and carry it effectively around the world. this is the group that wants to make palestine a state, they're the group that wants to regulate the internet. wolf, if you look behind the scenes of the united nation

connell. call al republican senator. right? tom grassley. whatever. there are a lot of people out there, bob corker. i hope stead we keep seeing lindsey graham as if he is the only guy over there. i don't know. i am on a tear this morning. >> he has to have something to do. before the susan rice thing -- >> >> bill: go shopping. >> when i heard lindsey graham talking about susan graham that guy is in the senate? what else could he do? >> good, the war on susan rice. did you make that up? i am loving it. >> bill press is the war on susan rice. >> i will tell you who bill press is this morning, war on john boehner. >> that's who i want to talk to you about. i think it's time for john boehner to get out of the way. just resign. so here is the deal. >> you explain to me. >> you have a bill that will give 98% of the americans a tax cut january 1st. it's already passed the senate. president obama says i will sign it. actually, if you look at t it's not just 98% of americans. it's 100%, up to 250 dollars a year. the only reason that bill not happening is because

a football-related injury. also interesting, nbc broadcaster bob costas during his segment last night used it to advocate gun control, and that set off a debate on social media. a lot of lessons to be learned. sad all the way around. >>> a suspected serial killer committed suicide. in an alaskan jail. israel keyes was being held in the kidnap and murder of an 18-year-old coffee shop worker, but the fbi revealed that he keyes confessed to killing a couple from vermont, four people in washington state, and one person in new york. only the vermont victims had been publicly identified. bill and lorraine currier disappeared in june of last year. >>> also, a frightening incident to show you involving a magician, wayne houchin in the dominican republic last week when this happened. a tv show host dropped the flammable liquid on his head. there is no word yet, though, why it ignited. houchin suffered burns on his head, face, neck, and his right hand. he is now recovering, and doctors say they think that he will fully recover without any scars. hard to watch that though. wow. >>> negotiations on a

and forth. listen to what republican senator bob corker said. >> i think the really discussions around the fiscal cliff haven't even begun to be serious yet and the reason they haven't is we have really not begun to talk about real entitlement reforms and the only way of a true avoidance and until the debate moves to that point there's really no serious debate taking place and i think, by the way, i think over the course of the next week that is where you're going to see the debate move to. >> reporter: and so, there's no official proposal on entitlement reform in this moment but mitch mcconnell, the senate minority leader interviewed last week and talked about some ideas that might get republicans interested in revenue, raising taxes on the table. higher medicare premiums for the wealthy, increasing the medicare eligibility age and slowing down the cost of living increase and no formal proposal but specifics he floated. >> message to both sides, may not be the time to find your spine and dig in. where's the christmas spirit? for heaven's sake, brianna. brianna keilar reporting live fo

bob costas expressed his views on the tragedy. >> in the coming days, javon belcher's actions and their possible connection to football will be analyzed. who knows. but here wrote jason whitlock is what i said. if javon belcher didn't possess a gun, he and cassandra perkins would both be alive today. >> joining me now you always have an interesting perspective on this. we don't know a lot of details. things are trickling in about the person life of javon and his girlfriend here. what are your thoughts on this? >> i think it's a great tragedy that that game was even played. that game shouldn't have been played. the nfl should have stepped in and said some things are more important than football. the time line in and of itself is barbaric. at 8:00 a.m. javon belcher kills kasandra perkins. by 8:10 he has a gun to his head in front of his head coach and time president. by 10:00 a.m. the nfl has already informed the carolina panthers that they need to be in kansas city the next day to play a game, and by 3:00 p.m. the nfl is putting out press releases saying, wait a minute the gam

of a firearm. so the suggestion by bob costas who ought to be fired for the comments, his outrageous suggestion that the civil rights of americans all 300 million of us should be taken away and we should be denied the right to own a gun that would be the only way to take it away from jovan belcher is to say no one can own a gun other than military or police. that's an outrageous suggestion. costas ought to be fired. >> larry it's ridiculous we're talking about firing a guy for trying to start a debate about how to control guns in this country. >> i don't want to talk about -- i want to leave the costas situation alone. he said what he said. what i want to talk about igor is the issue of violating the second amendment or greater gun regulation would have stopped this? i mean the question i have -- look, this guy was a big drinker. he suffered concussions. he use ad lot of pain killers. clearly, clearly he had huge mental and physical problems. how would the gun thing have played out if he couldn't have got end it? >> we don't know about this one case but we do know is in cases of domestic abuse

republican senator announced his support for raising tax rates on wealthy americans. tennessee senator bob corker says if the gop agrees to the wealthy tax hike, republicans would be better positioned to negotiate for bigger spending cuts on social security and medicare. >> there is a growing group of folks that are looking at this and realizing that we don't have a lot of cards as it relates to the tax issue before year-end. a lot of people are putting forth a theory and i think it has merit where you give the president the 2% increase that he's talking about, the rate increase on the top 2%. and all of a sudden, the shift goes back to entitlements. and all of a sudden, once you give him the rate on the top 2%, it's actually much lesser tax increase than what he's been talking about. the focus then shifts to entitlements and maybe that puts us in a place where we actually can do something that really saves this nation. >> corker joins fellow snaerls coburn, collins and snowe in supporting an increase in tax rates for wealthy americans. cnn's emily schmidt joins us live from our washington

kkk. that, of course, is insane. the only reason anybody ever heard about it is because bob costas mentioned whitlock in his gun commentary on nbc. so we called this whitlock guy and invited him on the factor. here's what he wrote, quote. i was summoned to testify before speaker of the big house, bill o'reilly, the fox news entertainer. i don't have to shuffle off to the big house when summoned. o'reilly is not boehner, pelosi, or obama. he's tv intertainer who spent the weeks after the election crying about the end of white establishment america. the end of the days when an upstanding white man felt entitled to summon whomever he wanted whenever he wanted to the big house to dance. i don't dance, unquote. now, that is pure racism. nothing else. whitlock implying that i'm some kind of slave overlord, and he gets away with that kind of garbage. in fact, he gets paid to spout. way beyond disgraceful. that's poison but not unusual. hate speech now happening all the time. there comes a point when all good people must say enough. that point has now been reached in america. the jason whi

were lost. the incident reignited the gun control debate. sportscaster bob costas taking a stand on "sunday night football." >> if jovan belcher didn't possess a gun, he and kasandra perkins would be alive today. >> reporter: chiefs' head coach romeo that witnessed belcher's suicide add his voice. >> all i know is there is a player with a gun. i know that is not a good thing. >> reporter: what drove belcher to kill? was it a head injury so common in football, or was this another tragic incident of domestic violence which kills two to three women in this country every single day. john schifrin, abc news, kansas city. >> breaking details about the case overnight, "new york post." >> "the new york post" reporting he spent the night with a woman the night before and neighbors had seen him routinely dating probably back to the last year. left this woman's house at 6:45. neighbors had complained that he was drunk the night before. >> they that been out to dinner, drinking, all that. >> passed out in his car. went up to the woman's apartment and then left her house at 6:45. then went to

. the senator from tennessee, bob corker, ribbing the president and chastising him for what he just calls his press conference. let's listen for a moment. >> without objection. >> mr. president -- >> senator from maryland. >> mr. president, i rise to speak on behalf of what is going on here today as the new chair of the -- >> okay, so tax hikes, it looks like tax hikes instead of affecting 98% of all americans will affect only the 5% of top earners. does that mean everybody is free and clear? not exactly. tomorrow, your paycheck will likely shrink. and that's with or without the fiscal cliff. that's because the payroll tax cut expires at midnight. right now, it does not look as if congress plans to extend it. the 4.2% you pay into social security will now go up to 6.2% of your salary. lawmakers have been so consumed by the fiscal cliff that it appears little was done to extend the 2010 payroll tax cuts, put in place by president obama two years ago in order to boost the economy. so what does it mean to your wallet? here is how much less you'll bring home if it expires. paychecks shrink $50 a

of the administration's efforts. but a lot of these changes start on a state level. bob marshall is a delegate in the virginia state house. he's proposed a new law for schools in his state which would mean arming teachers. now, i want to ask you this. good morning to you, sir. are you saying that teachers should be able to carry guns in school or be required to carry guns in school? >> no. you're overstating it. look at the situation. arm some teachers, arm some school personnel who voluntarily participate in this. one of the problems that you have is that when you have an area that's a gun-free zone, criminals don't pay attention to this. shootings which have occurred to 1950 to the present with one exception where there's three or more people killed have occurred in areas that are gun-free zones. that's the problem. i want people to be able to have after they receive equivalent law enforcement training which would take about four to eight weeks, the same training that a policeman would have. so if a policeman comes on to campus later, he knows somebody there who knows the building, who knows

the board tax hikes with dramatic cuts in military and domestic spending. joining us now bob cusack the manage evening editor of the hill the. great to have you here today. >> great to be here. >> many americans are frustrated that congress has taken us to the brink once again with little or no progress. what are you hearing at this moment? is there progress at this time? >> well, we are hearing that there has been progress between vice president biden and senate minority leader mitch mcconnell. still we are nearly 12 hours from the cliff. we don't have a bill. there has actually been a stunning lack of urgency on cant toll hill. on the default showdown, the government shut down there was more urgency. here there just isn't that urgency, maybe because the markets haven't been the roller coaster we thought they would be. eventually people will see less money in their paychecks unless a deal is reached and that could cause some kind of panic that could move congress. so far congress has just not moved and neither has the president. they haven't been able to get a deal. >> reporter: we

senator bob kerry and a former staffer for pennsylvania governor ed rendell. ron is a former communications director to the house speaker, dennis hastert. good to see you both. >> good to sigh. >> gregg: donna, let's start with what the president was offering a. even democrats are criticizing him for demanding 150 billion in more spending. not less, including a $50 billion stimulus this next year. at a time when the focus perhaps should be on spending cuts, are those democrats right? >> well, i'm hearing many more democrats resonating with the message that the president is delivering and that message is that he ran on and got elected on the basis of more taxes for the most wealthy americans. i think that there is a real danger for republicans in not really hearing that message. i've been impressed by the number of republicans that have made positive indications that more revenue could be forth coming, even in the form of tax increases on the most wealthy americans. and i think that there is a little bit of danger i think for the republican party as they redefine themselves as

leader bob dole in his wheelchair all in an effort to draw support. santorum explained the opposition in a piece published in "the daily beast" saying in part, let me yoquote, our natio has been the worldwide leader. we suld be telling nato and not the other way how to have dignity. senator kerry said santorum doesn't know what he's talking about. >> i have great respect for both rick and his wife karen and their daughter and their family. he is a strong family man. but he either simply hasn't read the treaty or doesn't understand it or he was just not factual in what he said because the united nations has absolutely zero, zero, i mean, zero ability to order or to tell or to even -- i mean, they can suggest but they have no legal capacity to tell the united states to do anything under this treaty. nothing. >> senator kerry referring there to santorum's daughter bella born with a rare genetic disorder. he said santorum and othere , ht e >>> tragic ending to a month's long search for two missing cousins. coming up next, the news here today on these iowa girls last seen in july when they
